Professional Experience

Licensed in November of 1976, Les McLaughlin began his legal career with a firm in downtown Dallas. In early 1978, he and his young family moved to Midland where he would become a partner in a firm of trial lawyers. Since April of 1984, he has been a sole practitioner.

Mr. McLaughlin’s practice has been devoted exclusively to civil litigation. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in oilfield-injury claims, lawsuits arising from vehicular collisions causing death or catastrophic injury, mineral and royalty disputes, and cases arising from commercial transactions, many related to the oil and gas business. He has served as mediator in cases involving the same issues.

Les McLaughlin is certified as a specialist in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a charter member and past president of the West Texas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served as Chair and as a Panel Chair of the State Bar’s Grievance Committee for District 16. He generally represents clients in courts within a 75-mile radius of Midland, but he has tried or mediated cases all over West Texas.
